The Best of August in Chicagoland

Now comes the time where we’re all wishing for a cold snap and maybe some fall weather. But, the sweat keeps coming! There are so many great events happening during late summer in Chicago. Stay hydrated and get out there! Here are some of our favorites.

Lollapalooza. Grant Park. August 3-6. Be there. Enough said.

Adventurous diners will not want to pass up the August 16 Farm Dinner at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Celebrate the connection between midwestern farmland and locally grown food we eat everyday. Dinner takes place in the Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Garden with a private tour beforehand. To buy tickets to the event, please visit the Chicago Botanic Garden website.

Feel the 24K magic of Bruno Mars at three separate shows in the Windy City. Catch him at the United Center each night, August 17-19.

Who doesn’t love an all-American weekend full of boats and planes? Grab the family and head to the Chicago Air & Water Show at North Avenue Beach August 19-20 and catch the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights, among so many more stunning acts. Best of all, the show is completely FREE.

Talk about a star-studded lineup at Wrigley Field this summer. And We’re not talking baseball! If you’re lucky, you’ve already nabbed tickets to Florida Georgia Line (August 12), Green Day (August 24), Lady Gaga (August 25) and Zac Brown Band (August 26).

If reliving your childhood through seeing stars at the planetarium is something you’re interested in, you need to check out Adler After Dark. This month’s theme is Solar Eclipse (of the Heart) and includes music, dancing, cocktails and info about the solar eclipse that will occur on August 21. Ages 21+ please!

One of the best parts about Chicago is that we have so many free events! One to add to the list is the Chicago Jazz Festival, happening Labor Day weekend at Millennium park, August 31 – September 3.

Interested in sitting back and relaxing to the sound of live music? Check out the Millennium Park Summer Music Series featuring great musical artists every Monday and Thursday during the summer for free. What’s not to love?
