The largest free blues festival in the world brings living legends and local 12-bar regulars to the city’s front yard for three days of music. This year, the main stage of the Chicago Blues Festival moves to Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, leaving behind Grant Park. Headliners for 2017 include Gary Clark Jr, William Bell and Che “Rhymefest” Smith. Pack your picnic and get jamming! (6/9 – 6/11, Pritzker Pavilion, Millennium Park).

Who doesn’t love a good movie in the park? Catch free outdoor screenings every other Wednesday this summer at the new Park at Wrigley beginning Wednesday, June 14 with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Other series screenings include The Jungle Book, Rookie of the Year, Ghostbusters and The Sandlot. Grab a blanket and some popcorn and make yourself at home! If Millennium Park is more your style, set up the blanket and goodies under the stars every Tuesday during the summer (Every other Wednesday, 6/14 – 8/23, Park at Wrigley, every Tuesday, 6/13 – 9/5, Great Lawn at Millennium Park).

Craft brews and animals, is there a better combination? Don’t miss Lincoln Park Zoo’s third annual craft beer festival, Craft Brews! Enjoy a selection of 75 plus specialty brews produced by more than 35 local and regional breweries at this one-of-a-kind event. Beer tasting stations will be set up throughout the zoo’s beautiful gardens during this after-hours experience just for adults. Cinco de Mayo may have been last month but why not keep the fiesta going at the inaugural Chicago Taco & Tequila Fest at Jackson Park! It’s hard to believe this themed festival is just now making it’s debut. The event will play host to tequila cocktail tastings paired with tacos. Dance off the calories after! The $15 admission fee includes one free cocktail (6/24 & 6/25, 1-9 pm, Jackson Park).

If that backyard kiddie pool just isn’t doing the trick, head to one of suburban Chicago’s many waterparks for some outdoor summer fun in the sun!
